Hussong's Cantina Mandalay Bay Happy Hour. The Strip

A ten dollar Original Margarita is the anchor here, and it comes with a backstory: the first Hussong's opened in Ensenada in 1892 and claims the margarita itself was invented at its bar in 1941. The Mandalay Bay location keeps the recipe and runs it as a late night deal, with the frozen version at $11 including a free flavored swirl and an El Pepino with jalapeno and cucumber at $12. Draft pints of Modelo, Pacifico, and Dos Equis drop to $6.

The catch is timing. Instead of an afternoon window, the deals start at 9 pm and go until close, bar seating only, so it works best as a nightcap after a show or a fight card down the hall. The food side holds up too: two street tacos for $8, elote for $7, Baja style ceviche at $13, and Diablo shrimp for $12, with bottomless chips and salsa added to any item for $3 more. Doors stay open until 11 pm Sunday through Thursday and midnight on weekends.
