PT's Tavern - 215 & Aliante Happy Hour. North Las Vegas

The half-off window here comes around twice a day, 5 to 7 in the evening and again from midnight to 2am, and it covers everything behind the bar: premium spirits, craft and import beers, wine by the glass, even the seltzers. No cherry-picked well list. The food side of the deal is where the tavern chains around town get separated, and this one holds up, with a $5.99 double smashburger, a personal pizza at the same price, carne asada cheese bites or a bean and chorizo dip for $6.99, and a $4.99 fry lineup when you only need something salty next to a cold pint. This location also runs a $1.99 monkey bread that has its own small following.

One thing worth knowing before you drive over: the sign on this corner of Aliante Parkway now reads Sierra Gold, the slightly dressier branch of the PT's Taverns family, but the playbook is the same. Bar-top video poker, plenty of screens for the game, and a kitchen that keeps serving deep into the night, which is the whole reason a midnight happy hour works.

For the Aliante side of North Las Vegas, just off the 215, it fills the neighborhood bar role without requiring a trip toward the Strip. Late shift workers get the same discount as the after-work crowd, just five hours later.
